La seva funci\u00f3 \u00e9s regular el nostre rellotge biol\u00f2gic. Aquest \u201crellotge intern\u201d marca el ritme circadiari, abastant 24 hores que es divideix en 8 hores de somni i 16 de vig\u00edlia. La melatonina es produeix a la gl\u00e0ndula pineal del cervell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En la producci\u00f3 de la melatonina tamb\u00e9 interv\u00e9 el tript\u00f2fan, que obtenim a trav\u00e9s de la dieta o de suplements alimentaris. El tript\u00f2fan produeix l&#8217;hormona anomenada serotonina, amb la qual se sintetitza la melatonina. La regulaci\u00f3 de la secreci\u00f3 de melatonina es veu afectada per la llum natural. \u00c9s a dir, a la nit augmenta la quantitat de melatonina en el nostre cos, provocant el son, mentre que de dia disminueix la seva concentraci\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tamb\u00e9 podem trobar-nos amb melatonina en forma de c\u00e0psules, feta de manera artificial. La principal funci\u00f3 de la melatonina ja l&#8217;hem esmentat, que \u00e9s regular el nostre rellotge biol\u00f2gic. Com hem vist, la gl\u00e0ndula pineal es veu estimulada amb la foscor, per la qual cosa produeix melatonina en el cos de nit i provoca el son, mentre que durant el dia disminueix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Altres funcions seves s\u00f3n:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Estimular la secreci\u00f3 de l&#8217;hormona del creixement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Actua com un potent antioxidant, combatent els radicals lliures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Millorar el sistema immunitari, ajudant a inhibir algunes infeccions, ja que augmenta les nostres defenses naturals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>La melatonina tamb\u00e9 interv\u00e9 regulant la nostra gana i modulant la producci\u00f3 de gonadotropines (que s&#8217;encarreguen del desenvolupament i funcionament d&#8217;ovaris i testicles).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>La producci\u00f3 d&#8217;aquesta hormona es veu afectada en situacions com ara trastorns del son, episodis depressius, diabetis, durant l&#8217;embar\u00e0s, en l&#8217;etapa de depressi\u00f3 postpart, en situacions de molt d&#8217;estr\u00e8s, en viatges que suposin canvi d&#8217;horari i en pres\u00e8ncia d&#8217;exc\u00e9s de llum, entre d&#8217;altres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quan ens preguntem <strong>per a qu\u00e8 \u00e9s bona la melatonina<\/strong> presa com a suplement, cal tenir en compte els factors recentment esmentats. Prendre un suplement d&#8217;aquesta hormona est\u00e0 indicat en casos de:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Alteracions del ritme circadiari.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jet-lag a causa del canvi de fus horari que es produeix en viatjar a zones amb difer\u00e8ncia hor\u00e0ria.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Insomni per estr\u00e8s o ansietat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Persones que treballen de nit o tenen torns espor\u00e0dics de nit, per a ajustar el seu cicle del son.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Persones sense un horari establert per al son.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>En qualsevol cas, es recomana consultar al metge abans de prendre qualsevol suplement. Supera l&#8217;efecte antioxidant de moltes altres vitamines com la E o la vitamina C, regulant de manera efica\u00e7 els nivells d&#8217;oxidaci\u00f3 de l&#8217;organisme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aix\u00ed mateix, la melatonina combat la proliferaci\u00f3 dels radicals lliures.
